Now, a question for advanced readers:

Who can tell if this is a North American or a rest of the world 245?

Kinja'd!!!

The heading reads....no, Google it. It’s true though.

I’m guessing something with turn signals or lights that’s different in the US.

American?

Sealed beams + 5mph bumpers.

Pretty sure not American. Don’t ask me to justify my answer.

I knew it was an old one. But I didn’t know the answer. Wikipedia tells me:

Kinja'd!!!

So it must be an international version because of the turn signals and lack of rear side marker. But with the smaller headlamps. Hmm.

The most obvious difference is the white side (or parking) lights. In America and Canada these are required, for reasons unknown, to be orange. Volvo just put orange lenses on but many American spec vehicles use the same lights as both indicators and sidelights.

Yes, North American ones have orange sidelights where the rest of us have white ones. Also side marker lights.

No, they all had round lights and battering ram bumpers at the time. The most obvious difference is that the rest of the world car in the picture has white sidelights (the ones above the indicators) while a NA spec one is required (for reasons unknown) to have orange ones.

I think it may have been to stupid-proof the cars against American owners, who couldn’t be counted on to use amber bulbs.

US spec. The Headlights on a European one have a slightly different plastic thing around the headlights and the chrome doesn’t circle around the front indicators. Only circles around the headlights and grille.

....is the wrong answer. US ones have orange rather than white sidelights plus side marker lights at the back.
